SummaryResumen

The Evening Star reported that Brazil, Venezuela, and Haiti were moving aggressively to purge communist influence in hopes of securing financial favor from the United States. In Haiti, President Dumarsais Estime dissolved the Communist Party by decree after Washington withheld a $20,000,000 loan needed for debt retirement and agricultural development. Similar anti-communist actions were noted in Brazil under President Dutra and Venezuela under President Betancourt.
