Passage summaryResumen del pasaje

The *Springfield Weekly Republican* reported that the implementation of the Dominican customs receivership awaited President Morales concluding agreements with European creditor nations. The Secretary of War prepared to nominate customs collectors, with President Roosevelt recommending William E. Gould of Baltimore, a linguist and financial editor, for a collectorship. It was also anticipated that George R. Colton, formerly an American revenue collector in the Philippines, would be appointed to assist in administering the Dominican customs service.
