Passage summaryResumen del pasaje

The *New-York tribune* published the proclamation of the U.S. military occupation in Santo Domingo, which stated that the intervention aimed to restore internal order and treaty compliance rather than end Dominican sovereignty. Dominican statutes and civil courts remained operational for regular matters, while military tribunals were established to try offenses against the occupation or its personnel. The decree also directed that all customs duties and internal revenues be paid directly to the military government.
