The *New-York Tribune* reported on British influence, backed by a promised war vessel and a multi-million-dollar interest-free loan to the Dominican Government, though a director stated that holders of the English Hartmont loan were not responsible for abrogating the treaty. Additionally, a director noted that previous concessions granted to Funkhauser and the Samana Surveying Company were not absorbed by the Samana Bay Company. The article also featured a translated decree from Provisional President Ignacio Maria Gonzales regarding the lease contract for the Peninsula and Bay of Samana.
