SummaryResumen

The *Evening Star* reviewed the political background of Haiti and the establishment of the Dominican Republic on the shared island. The report detailed decades of political turmoil and violent depositions of Haitian executives that led to the 1915 marine intervention following the murder of President Guillaume Sam. It noted that the treaty signed with Haiti went beyond the Dominican agreement by establishing an American-led constabulary and directing urban public sanitation.
