SummaryResumen

The *Washington Daily News* commented on reports that General Rafael Trujillo and his entourage were traveling to Germany, raising speculation about German interest in Samaná Bay as a potential submarine base. Although the Dominican Legation denied that Trujillo would meet Adolf Hitler, it did not deny he was traveling to Germany. The report also listed members of Señora de Trujillo's party, which included military aides, a private physician, and secretary J. M. Bonetti Burgos.

portance attached to this arrival, is

because the word goes forth that Gen.

Trujillo and his family are en route

to Germany. Some time ago, the

Dominican Legation went to great

pains to announce that Gen. Trujillo

“was not going to visit Hitler.” In

denying the report that the generalis

And why shouldn’t he go to see

Hitler? No reason except perhaps it

Samana Bay of which we spoke the

do any negotiating for the use of Sa

was in southern waters. At least we

haven’t heard that he did. But Herr

Hitler has long thought Samana Bay

would be an excellent submarine base

for himself!
