SummaryResumen

The Evening Star reported that the Organization of American States referred the dispute between Haiti and the Dominican Republic over Col. Astrel Roland's subversive broadcasts to a peace commission, which advised direct bilateral negotiations. Haitian diplomats stated the broadcasts caused widespread unrest that necessitated declaring a state of siege to maintain public order. While Dominican authorities defended the broadcasts under free speech on a private station, Haitian officials contended the station was controlled by President Trujillo's brother.
