SummaryResumen
A director of the Samana Bay Company denied reports that the company had failed, saying it was never in so good a condition and that negotiations for a considerable loan had already been concluded in London. He said the new provisional government had sent a memorial promising to respect all the company's agreements with the Baez government up to November 25, that the United States government had merely leased the Levantados islands from the company for a coaling station without yet paying anything, and that the company's engineers had been hard at work surveying its lands.
