A travel feature describes the capital of Santo Domingo, where automobiles are plentiful and the ride to San Cristobal along the new macadam boulevard is most attractive, cars being available for $4 an hour. It names the Hotel Francis as the best known of the city's hotels, notes a large foreign colony at the capital and in Macoris and Puerto Plata, puts the whole trip from New York at about eight or nine days, and insists the climate is not unhealthy, with no serious epidemic since the cholera outbreak of the early sixties.
