Passage summaryResumen del pasaje

The *New York Herald* reported that a steamer carrying the exiled rebel General Gregorio Luperón and his followers cleared from a port for Jamaica, subsequently taking on board Dominican refugees at Turk's Island and appearing off Puerto Plata before arriving at St. Marc by June 26th. Officials entertained apprehensions that Luperón contemplated a descent on the Dominican coast to operate against Mr. Domingo's government. In response, the Baez government of the Dominican Republic issued a decree detailing the rebel operations and documenting the activities of Luperón aboard the armed steamer *Telegrafo*.
