SummaryResumen

The Wilmington Morning Star reported that twenty-six leaders of the aborted 1,007-man expedition to overthrow Dominican President Rafael Trujillo were released in Havana on $5,000 bail each. Special Magistrate Evelio Tabio charged the leaders, predominantly Cuban and Dominican and including eight generals, with jeopardizing state peace and conducting unauthorized military recruitment. Three American participants—Hollis Smith, Rupert E. Waddell, and Thomas Sawyer—were among those previously freed following surrenders at Guinchos Cay and Antilla.
