them steamers, aud send them colonista:—how, then,

does The Union give currency to the statement that

they are under the control of American policy

4. Here, we have the gist of the whole story. We

ought to make Dominica ours, by fighting of course,

for we can never got. it otherwise. As we should con-

quer its people, we should have a perfect right to

make slaves of them. Then we eould do the same

with the million of negroes in IHayti, and thus we

should be able to disconcert all the views of England

in the West Indies and confine the Africanization of

Cuba to imports from the land of the free, and the

“home of the brave.” Then slavery would get a long

lease of power in this country, and the slave-nurseries

of Maryland and Virginia might drive a fat business

forever. This is a monstrous ccheme no doubt, bat it

is clearly entertained by the slave-eatehing Democracy,

and the President's organ gives it all the aid that cam

be got out of such falsehoods as those we have ex-

posed. Tet the people of the North be warned in

time. The slavery propaganda is neither broken nor

idle, nor is all need gone by for earnest and resolute

opposition to its nefarious plots.
