The South African
War is Now Oyer.
I.ONDON, Feb. 26.—There is a buoyant feeling in military circles
over the wdr ip South Africa being practically ended. The junction
of Dewot’s forces with the commandos already in Cape Colony has
bean prevented andLthe invaders scattered in all directions. Botha’s
force was compelled to break op into small bands. The sparse popu
lation of the veldts have been corralled. There are no relays of
horses, no drovee of cattle left on the veldt which has been rendered
like a desert incapable of supporting the Boer army.
The military expert# here express the opinion that the war will
be ended by the first of July and wagers are being made in Johan
nesburg that the mines will be running by that time. _
