Later from Hayti. Boston April 28. The schoon

er Mary Chilton, from Port Au Prince, the ninth,

arrived to-day. Capt. Hollins reports that the Cham

ber of Deputies had been in session to consider' the

proposition of the American government relative to

acknowledging the independence of the Dominicans.

It was generally believed the day the Chi! ion sailed

that the Chamber had rejected the proposition, and

had also rejected a claim made for the detention of

the American brig Lean !er and the imprisonment of

her captain. In consequence of this, the Haytiens

were daily in expectattcn of the arrival of the Ameri

can squadron. Five of the conspirators against the

Empire had been shot. One of them was a custom

house officer, who died with the declaration that there

were plenty more left behind who coincided with

him in the opinion that the Imperial government was

too expensive for so small an Empire. Soulouque

parades daily at the bead of two or three thousand

soldiers.

Conventions Agitation. It is now apparent that

the Convention Meetings g-t up by the federalists, are

intended to defeat equal suffrage, so nobly begun by

the Democrats in the Legislature. Let no democrat,

then give countenance to the movement.

Lincoln Refublimn.
