The Treveler's Notebook

Canada, the Bahamas and Haiti Among Nearby

Foreign Lands Imposing No Passport

Requirements on American Tourists

By JACQUES FUTRELLE. Jr,

Travel Editor.

When the arrival of spring turned

attention of Americans to summer

vacation plans there was a dispo

sition to suppose that Canada, hav

ing declared war on Germany, had

thrown a wet blanket over the

pleasurable pursuits of American

visitors by enacting strict, war

time regulations. It was easy to

find out it wasn’t so, but rumor got

around that passports were required.

despite ardent efforts of the travel

industry and particularly Canada

to knock it down. It flits into

an ear now and then to disconcert

a traveler who hopes to satisfy his

longing for foreign scenes in our

_ steamships!
