Soma of the patients have friends

bring food to them. The other are out

of luck. All the hospitals depended on

electricity so there is nothing sterile

no dressings, no sterile water.

"As we flew over 1 saw nearly all

the bridges down and thought it

would be impossible tor Bcuraml and

Lassiter to get through from Haiti.

But they arrived tonight with all med

ical stores dry. They had to swim,

walk and ride and often carry the

boxes of stores to grt here. Almost s

superhuman piece of work. Nurses

are badlj^-needed but there Is no place

to house them.

“As for doctors, both Cuba and

Porto Rico have sent about 20 each

I am iv help In distributing them to

morrow. When we arrived I came Into

town and left the other doctors to

watch the supplies. Someone came

along and loaded all our blankets,

mosquito nets, mess gear, lyster bag

and the canteens and brought them

In town. Some big-hearted guy saw

It snd ordered them to distribute it

to the hospitals W* have not been

able to find nny of them.”
