T. W. Osborne, Who Sought Informa

tion, Hopes to Better Conditions

at Auburn, N. Y.

Auburn, N. Y., Oct. 6—Thomas

Mott Osborne, after a week’s self-im

posed term in Auburn prison to study

prison conditions, ended his impris

onment after he had spent most of

Saturday afternoon and all night in

the prison “dungeon” undergoing pun

ishment for refusing to work in the

broom shop. He lost several pounds

of weight and dazed and very nerv

ous, came out of the prison with a

mass of information which he de

clares will surely lead to the better

ment of the conditions under which

the state of New York now treats its

offenders.
