Rep. White Carries

Silver, Gold to Show

'Real Money' Value

Representative Compton White

(D.) of Idaho has made himself

a living exhibition of “real

money.”

He not only Jingles a half dozen

silver dollars in his pocket but is

carrying an ounce of gold dust

worth 135. He explained:

*T Just want to show the stuff

that is worth something when

paper isn’t.”

White showed the ounce of gold

dust to President Roosevelt and

brought it away. But he visited

Harry L. Hopkins, WPA adminis

trator, and before he left he

poured out a bit as a gift to Hop

kins. The tiny bottle was replen

ished.
