Persistent reports of activities

of revolutionaries in the South

east Florida area have kept law

enforcement officers on the alert

for some time.

On* of th* reports said that

volunteers” for th* Cuban

struggle wer* being assembled

along the Florida coast for

transportation to a staging

area in th* Dominican Repub

lic or Haiti from which another

invasion effort would b*

launched.

These reports have not heen

confirmed by official sources.

Early this month the telephone

company reported a break in the

No. 3 cable of the Cuban Amort

can Telephone and Telegraph Co.,

which is said to have been de

i tected on Dec. 3.

In this instance the cable ap

peared to have been cut with a

hack saw.

Th* break was found by

Emi* Ryckman, a professional

diver, who had bean employed

by th* telephon* company t*

search for the break.

It was estimated that th*

break he discovered would cost

some $3,500 to repair.

The latest break is thought to

be in the same general location

but no further definite informa

tion will be available until th*

repair boat arrives and locates

the exact point of the break.

Officials are puzzled as to th*

connection between the cabl*

breaks and the revolution, since

they feel that no assistance to the

revolutionary effort would be ren

dered by severing the telephone

cables.

However, they do admit that

j such actions have a nuisance

i value.
