Assail Frondizi's

New Oil Policies

BUENOS AIRES (UPI)— The

Communist Party issued a state

ment in which it expressed its

disagreement with President Artu

ro Frondizi about the proposed

solution to the oil problem.

The Party recommends that those

of great wealth contribute towards

a “large patriotic national loan”

and the purchase, on credit, of

oil drills and other equipment in

countries which would be willing to

accept payment in Argentine agri

cultural surpluses.

It also recommends that oil

workers should have representa

tion on the directive board of the

State Oil Monopoly (YPF).

The Party said that it is not

opposed to the purchase of equip

ment in the U. S. or in any other

country with the condition that

the payments can be made with

Argentine exports, and not with

money, and stresses the offer of

the Soviet Union to send oil equip

ment to Argentina up to a value

of one billion dollars in exchange

for Argentine agricultural products

An editorial published in “La

Hora,” an organ of the Party,

says that Russia, without foreign

capital, increased her oil produc

tion from 9,200,000 tons annualy

before the Bolchevic revolution to

298,000,000 in 1957.
