Events Staged by Saddle Club

Draw Visitors Out Into Sun

PHOENIX, Ariz. Becoming

more of a favorite year by year

with winter visitors to this desert

resort playground are the varied

activities of the Western Saddle

Club.

Desert hoseback treks, over

night outings, barbecues, gymk

hanas, and just plain, old-fash

ioned Western outdoor fun keep

club members and winter guests

busy throughout the season.

Biggest event each year is the

Phoenix All-Western Stampede,

scheduled this season for Feb

ruary 14. A stampede includes

some rodeo events, but is strictly

a “cowboy’s playday.” Amateurs

and dudes, alike, have equal

chances in nearly all events.

Six years ago, the Western

Saddle Club started humbly with

four families, and today some 150

Valley of the Sun families enjoy

real Western excitement and

fun. The saddle club has its

own lighted rodeo grounds and

20 acres of arena on the slopes of

I Squaw Peak Mountain just 2

miles north of Phoenix.
