SummaryResumen

The Evening Star analyzed strategic vulnerabilities in Caribbean defenses, warning of potential submarine threats to the Panama Canal and regional bases. The analysis noted ongoing armed conflict in Costa Rica, where government forces reportedly received backing from Dominicans, Nicaraguans, and Hondurans against rebels supporting Otilio Ulate. The author cautioned that a communist victory would leave American defense lines bordered by hostile regimes, with the unsympathetic Dominican government positioned centrally in the region.
