SummaryResumen

The New-York Tribune reported that Haitian rebels defeated government forces and marched on Port-au-Prince, prompting U.S. Minister Furniss to report a serious crisis. In response to the unrest, officials in Washington considered applying the Dominican customs receivership model to Haiti. Observers believed foreign creditor nations would welcome an American revenue receivership in Haiti similar to the successful administration that brought financial peace to Santo Domingo.
